A Creative Symposium of Arts, Businesses, and Compassionate Callings
Around fifteen years ago a missionary serving in Indonesia brought home some samples from a handicraft project she had developed. They trained the women to make the crafts, and while working, an Indonesian Christian taught the women the message of the gospel. The crafts included Bible story hand puppets, Advent Jesse Tree wall hangings (each with 25 ornaments focused on our Messiah), cards, and other lovely things. The women learned about the love of God and His saving grace through the cross. No longer did they need to stagger under the weight of their sin, trying to make themselves good enough for God to love them. The crafts were a bridge to the cross.
My friend has since retired. The handicraft project has closed. But I dreamed of having a way to help others find an audience for the things they make. From crafts, fine art, and sculpture to books and businesses, the mission of encouraging others in sharing their gifts and the message of Jesus is the heart of Alabaster’s Ink Well. Alabaster’s provides certain businesses, ministries, and artists with greater exposure to a wider audience who would find blessing in their offerings.
Customers can discover original designs as gifts to communicate love to friends and family or find unique encouragements for their own joy in living. We are knitting together a community of contributors and customers who delight in creating and discovering one-of-a-kind gifts.
