A warm draft of rising air blew softly through the barn cellar.33
As the warm spring air blows softly through the barn cellar, change is coming. The baby spiders are about to launch. Jesus said that He would send the Holy Spirit, unseen like the wind, to empower His disciples to launch as well. The Spirit remains in us and with us always. “And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you forever—the Spirit of Truth” (John 14:16–17 AMP).
The Holy Spirit works within us as believers to carry us through life and make us like Jesus. The Spirit adjusts our focus to be on Jesus, and this focus transforms us. “We all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit” (2 Cor. 3:18 NIV).
The Holy Spirit grows us up. We will no longer mind the things of childhood. We’ll change the way we spend our time, as Fern did. We’ll change our priorities like Wilbur did when he yielded his favorite things to gain something much more precious.
“Do not quench the Spirit” (1 Thess. 5:19 NIV).
Prayer: God, grow me up through the Spirit.
